The Locks is a brand new wine bar and cafe in the town of Marple, Greater Manchester. Launched in late 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the client required a strong identity to help the venture hit the ground running.

Marple itself lies along the Peak Forest Canal and is home to the Marple Lock Flight – a system of 16 canal locks spread over the course of about a mile – which of course, lends its name to the new cafe.

The logo is based on the canal mapping symbol for a lock (a chevron); and had to be suitable for application at a range of scales and proportions.
