For this section, we are going over a playlist of videos made by the Cavalry team, called One Minute Wonders. This series demonstrates how quickly you can assemble impressive animations in this software.

This time, we are animating a gradient along a path.

Opt/Alt+Click on the Line tool to insert one into the scene.

basic line

Our basic line

Go Basic Line > Shape > Length and make it longer. While you are there, go Deformers > + > Oscillator.

oscillator with normals applied to the line

Strength: 100%

Open the Oscillator attributes and check Deformer > Use Normals. Change the Strength value to get a more dramatic curve. The line will probably look a bit crooked, so to smooth it out, go Basic Line > Shape > Deformers > + > Sub Divide.

strength adjusted

Strength: 500%

Press Play and you have a wavy line! The initial animation might be a bit quick, so I changed Oscillator [Basic Line] > Frequency to 0.5.

Go Basic Line > Stroke > Color Mode > Gradient and adjust the colours how you want them. While there, you can stylise the path to your taste by thickening the stroke weight and giving it round caps.

Here is my animation, I simply set my gradient from yellow to pink and then to a grey to match my background. If your rounded end cap has an unexpected colour, play with the position of the last colour stop.
